We are excited to have two new exhibits opening this Friday for Art Map Burlington’s First Friday Art Walk!  In the SEABA gallery we have a new exhibit called “Book Works” and in RETM & VCAM we are displaying the art of three different artists: Jason Boyd, Jordan Douglas and Matt Gang.

Book Works at SEABA Gallery

Opening Friday, April 3rd from 5-8pm (more information here)

In Book Arts Guild of Vermont’s exhibit, “Book Works”  the artists redefine the normal concept of the book, using various mediums and techniques to construct or reconstruct pieces that tell a story, and can be ‘read’ in some way by the viewer.  A group of books altered by folding and manipulating pages represents the outcome of the guild’s monthly meeting program where members share skills and encourage creative work.  Other works represent the broad definition of the book as explored by painters, textile artists, and paper lovers.

Boyd, Douglas and Gang at VCAM/RETN

Opening Friday, April 3rd from 5-8pm (more information here)

Jason Boyd, Jordan Douglas and Matt Gang are displaying their work at RETM & VCAM.  Jason Boyd is showing his latest wood and mixed media assemblages. He combines scrap and waste material from his woodworking business and old furniture parts to create original mixed-media art and an appropriated image or two.

Jordan Douglas presents his most current body of photographic work alongside selections of previous series.  Light and Grain is an ongoing study of composition punctuated by intense light.  The photographs reflect travels to the Shetland Isles, Paris, Rome and Cuba.

Matt Gang is an artist who works primarily in wood, stone, and wine corks.  Gentle curves, clean lines, and simple patterns combine to form a piece that is endlessly enjoyable to gaze upon.
