The South End Art Hop is a three day event occurring on the weekend following the Labor Day holiday. It attracts over 30,000 visitors, the majority from outside Burlington. Visitors are attracted to the South End artist’s studios, and local businesses that are refit as art galleries and exhibition sites for the more than 500 participating artists. The event celebrates the unique characteristics of the Pine Street corridor, in particular the development of concentrated creative and artistic activity that has been established in numerous re-purposed factories and warehouses within the District. This corridor has been designated, and recognized, as the South End Arts District.
Join us on July 16th from 5:30-7:30pm for a live show fundraiser, the grand re-opening of SEABA’s Art and Coffee Lounge, and our 29th annual meeting!
The Art and Coffee Lounge is in collaboration with Speeder and Earl’s Coffee and will be a new community space that will fuse art and coffee. Local artists will be doing live art throughout the evening, and you can learn about SEABA’s accomplishments from this past year during our 29th annual meeting.
Come celebrate with us by grooving to live beats by local artist Fattie B, chowing down on food and drink, and enjoying some incredible live art from some of your favorite local artists. You will also have the opportunity to participate in our raffle with a variety of prizes.
Hope to see you there!

The planBTV South End draft was released on June 16. This 99 page document with accompanying 18 page Toolkit for Preserving the Arts, covers everything from Transportation to Economic Development, from the Champlain Parkway to enhancing the arts district. You can find the links to the online version here.
SEABA will serve as the ‘south end hub’ over the next 2 months of the planning process. We will hold meetings tackling the various topics in the plan, so that the public can provide the city planners with informed, constructive feedback. These meetings will be shared via social media, enewsletter, website, and in print. We will also have visuals in our gallery, a laptop to provide feedback via the webtool, copies of the plan and toolkit, and we want to know and hear your concerns and thoughts as well!
According to the draft plan, SEABA would take a lead or assist in projects designed to enhance, protect, manage, and facilitate the fusion of art & industry as we have done over the past 29 years. We ultimately want to do what is truly best for the residents, businesses, and creative entrepreneurs that make our South End so darn unique…so please stay in touch, and stay involved with SEABA and we’ll do the same.
-Adam Brooks, Executive Director of SEABA
